Parental Alienation Awareness Day
See one of the UK's most famous landmarks lit up in honour of PAPA and its members and followers impacted by parental alienation.
About the Event.
What is Parental Alienation Awareness Day?
Parental Alienation Awareness Day is on April 25th and is observed to shed light on the harmful effects of parental alienation, where one parent undermines the child's relationship with the other parent.
This day aims to educate individuals about the signs and consequences of this behaviour, fostering understanding and support for affected families.
Raising awareness is crucial as it encourages conversations around healthy co-parenting, ensuring children maintain strong, loving relationships with both parents.
By highlighting these issues, we can work towards preventing emotional harm to children and promoting their well-being in challenging family situations.

What is PAPA doing for PA Awareness Day?

At PAPA we have decided to light up the Spinnaker Tower in honour of all who are impacted by parental alienation.

The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is one of the UK's largest and most famous landmarks, in one of the UK's most important cities.

The Spinnaker Tower will be lit up in GREEN to reflect PAPA and our members and followers impacted by parental alienation.

The tower will be in PAPA green from around 7pm until around 11:30pm.

Why Portsmouth?

Not only is Portsmouth one of the UK's most culturally important cities, it is home to one of the UK's largest and most famous landmarks; the Spinnaker Tower.

PAPA founder Simon Cobb is also originally from Portsmouth, so it makes perfect sense to do our PA Awareness demonstration there.

Where to view.

We are asking all PAPA members and followers who have been impacted by PA to join us in Portsmouth to observe the lighting up of the Spinnaker Tower, to raise awareness of parental alienation on the 25th of April.

The Spinnaker Tower is located at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.
For the best view in Portsmouth we recommend observing from Gunwharf Quays, Old Portsmouth or Southsea. The Spinnaker Tower is visible from most parts of the city however. Alternatively, you can find a great view of the tower from across the harbour in Gosport.

You can also find a great view of the city, including the Spinnaker Tower from Portsdown Hill, this is accessible by car or bus, with some great viewing areas, for those not wishing to travel all the way to the centre of Portsmouth. It's also accessibly on foot, with the nearest train station being Cosham.

Meeting places.

We are asking all PAPA members who are making their way into the city to view to please congregate at The Hard, which is located directly opposite the Portsmouth Harbour train station and Hard Interchange bus station and ferry port.

The Hard is also located a stones throw from Gunwharf Quays, which is where the Spinnaker Tower is located.

The Nelson Bar at the Keppels Head Hotel and The Ship & Castle have both agreed to be meeting places for all PAPA members and followers and they will be displaying the below poster to ensure you can find them.

We are asking PAPA members and followers to get into Portsmouth by 6pm as the lights will be on between 7pm and 11:30pm.

Any PAPA members and followers wanting to socialise with other members and followers then please go to our meeting places listed above, if you can't find them please look out for our posters, although you should have no trouble as they are both in prominent locations with several other pubs also nearby.

How to get there.

Portsmouth is incredibly well connected and can be accessed by car from both the A3 and M25.

Portsmouth has several train stations, including Portsmouth Harbour station, which is located directly next to Gunwharf Quays, where the Spinnaker Tower is located.

If coming from further afield, such as the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth has several ferry ports, including the International Ferry Port and Wight Link terminals, as well as a Hovercraft terminal next to Clarence Pier in Southsea.

Where to stay.

If you are coming from further afield, then you'll be glad to know that Portsmouth is a very popular tourist destination and so has many many hotels and b&b's to choose from.

There is a Premier Inn next to the Historic Dockyard as well as a Holiday Inn Express at Gunwharf Quays, which are both a stones throw from the Spinnaker Tower.

There are many hotels in the city centre, Old Portsmouth and Southsea, which are all walking distance from Gunwharf Quays.
