On 25th April, Portsmouth did not simply host an event, it became the setting for something far more profound.

What unfolded that evening marked a defining moment in the growing global recognition of parental alienation.
This was not just powerful for those who attended.
It represented a shift in visibility, scale and collective voice that will be remembered as a turning point.
For many, it was deeply personal. For others, it was long overdue. For everyone who stood there, it was history in the making.
This article is a powerful account of a record-breaking global awareness event where thousands of people united in Portsmouth, and worldwide, to bring unprecedented visibility to parental alienation.

A Landmark Lit With Meaning
At the centre of it all, the Spinnaker Tower stood illuminated in teal, its glow cutting through the night as a bold and unignorable statement.
The sight alone was striking, but its meaning ran far deeper.
For parents separated from their children, for grandparents excluded from family life, and for children caught in complex and painful circumstances, this was not simply a landmark lit in colour.
It was recognition. It was validation.
It was a public acknowledgment of experiences that are too often dismissed or misunderstood.

The Largest Gathering Ever Seen
What truly defined the night was not just the symbolism but the people who came together beneath it.
Thousands of people gathered, making this the largest assembly ever recorded for those impacted by parental alienation anywhere in the world.
The scale alone was extraordinary, but the human stories behind those numbers gave it real weight.
People travelled from across the United Kingdom, including Liverpool, Newcastle, Cumbria and Bristol, making long journeys to be present.
Others came from much further afield, travelling internationally from Austria, Belgium and even South Africa.
This was not a local gathering. It was a global one.
That level of commitment speaks volumes about the importance of the event.
People do not travel such distances without reason.
They came because this issue matters deeply to them.
They came because they have lived it.
They came because they needed to stand in a place where their experiences were understood without explanation.
For many, this was the first time they had ever felt truly seen in this context, and that made the moment deeply significant.

A Shared Human Experience
The atmosphere beneath the illuminated tower reflected a powerful sense of unity.
It was emotional, supportive and deeply connected.
Strangers spoke openly, sharing experiences that are often kept private.
There was a sense of understanding that required no introduction and no justification.
In that moment, the gathering became more than the largest of its kind.
It became the world’s largest tribute to those affected by parental alienation, a collective act of recognition that carried meaning far beyond Portsmouth.
This was not just about awareness. It was about belonging, visibility and validation on a scale never seen before.

A Powerful Symbol of Courage
Before the tower stood illuminated, one of the most striking moments of the evening unfolded as our 5 amazing abseilers descended from its height.
The silhouettes of Jade, Greg, Jane, Natalie and Callum against the tower's tall structure created a powerful and unforgettable visual.
This was more than a dramatic display.
It symbolised courage, visibility and the determination to step forward despite fear.
For many watching, it mirrored their own experiences and the emotional strength required to face and speak about parental alienation.

A Record-Breaking Impact on the City
The scale of the event extended into the city itself, creating a measurable and record-breaking impact.
Along the waterfront, the surge of people transformed the atmosphere and local economy.
At the Spice Island Inn, one of the two pubs at the central meeting point, the effect was unprecedented.
The venue recorded its highest ever attendance and its greatest income for a single day in its history.
This was not just a notable achievement for the business.
It reflected the sheer magnitude of the event and confirmed that Portsmouth experienced a truly exceptional and record-breaking day.

Music That Carried the Message
The atmosphere of the evening was further elevated by a powerful live performance from Kissed by Vultures, whose music added an emotional depth that resonated throughout the crowd.
Their song All Stand for the Judge proved especially poignant in the context of the event, its lyrics and tone striking a chord with many who have experienced the complexities and challenges of the family court system.
In that moment, the music became more than entertainment.
It became a voice for shared experiences, echoing the frustrations, hopes and resilience of those gathered, and reinforcing the emotional significance of a night that was already filled with meaning.

A Global Show of Unity
What made this moment even more significant was that it extended far beyond Portsmouth.
At the same time, PAPA chapters in Canada and the United States illuminated Niagara Falls in teal, creating a powerful international statement.
This simultaneous illumination of two globally recognised landmarks represented an unprecedented level of unity.
It demonstrated clearly that parental alienation is not confined to one country or one culture.
It is a global issue affecting families across continents.
The importance of this cannot be overstated.
It marked a moment where awareness became coordinated, visible and impossible to ignore on a worldwide scale.

From Parental Alienation Awareness to Action
The significance of the event did not end with the night itself.
The following day, a free family law workshop ensured that the momentum translated into practical support.
Attendees were provided with guidance, information and insight into legal processes, giving them tools to better understand and navigate their situations.
This element was essential.
Awareness alone is not enough without action, and this workshop demonstrated a commitment to making a real and lasting difference.

Why This Moment Matters
Taken together, everything about Parental Alienation Awareness Day carried weight.
The record-breaking attendance, the international travel, the economic impact, the powerful symbolism and the continuation into practical support combined to create something truly rare.
For those who travelled across cities, countries and continents, being there was not optional.
It was essential.
They were not simply attending an event.
They were witnessing a shift and becoming part of a moment that redefined the scale and visibility of this issue.
For those who were not there, the significance is becoming increasingly clear.
This was not just another awareness day.
It was a historic milestone, a global statement and a record-breaking demonstration of unity and strength.

A Turning Point That Cannot Be Undone
25th April 2026 will be remembered not just for what happened, but for what it represents.
It was the moment parental alienation stepped firmly into public awareness on an unprecedented scale.
It was the moment a growing global movement proved its strength.
Most importantly, it was the moment that showed this issue can no longer be overlooked.
And for those who stood there beneath the teal-lit sky, it was not just something they witnessed.
It was something they were part of.

I was fortunate enough to be one of the five to abseil down Spinnaker tower that day. For a moment there was a chance to pause and take in the view and the realisation hit. PAPA was there in Portsmouth for everyone impacted by parental alienation. The vibe was incredible it stretched far and wide, the people were incredible, the band was incredible. What PAPA accomplished that night was incredible. One stand in unison against parental alienation. What a unforgettable event.
We need more eyes on this issue. People die over this, we need change.
I just wanted to say how terrific it was to attend the PAPA Awareness Day in Portsmouth on Saturday. I had the pleasure of meeting several other chaps and sharing our individual experiences of parental alienation. We were able to tell our stories frankly and honestly which created a sense of mutual support and empathy. A number of us have exchanged contact details and will hopefully continue to provide one another with advice, support and friendship. Overall an insightful and inspiring experience. Thank you all for your great work.
